What Is The Royal Shield Warranty
The Royal Shield Warranty is an extended warranty backed by Ford. This warranty allows for repairing or replacing of defective parts or repairs that are needed due to poor workmanship. Normal wear and tear that is a result of defects in parts or workmanship can also be eligible for repairs under this plan. The warranty is a limited warranty meaning the coverage only applies to certain specified components.
Which Vehicles Qualify For The Royal Shield Warranty
The Royal Shield Warranty is specifically for previously owned vehicles. Many of the previously owned vehicles at Bill Knight Ford qualify for this warranty coverage. Vehicles that are clearly identified as being sold in “as is” condition do not qualify for the coverage. All other pre-owned vehicles on our lot will have the Royal Shield Warranty included as a standard part of the transaction.
How Does The Coverage Work
The Royal Shield Warranty provides 6 year or 60,000 mile comprehensive coverage. Each vehicle that qualifies for coverage has been inspected by a qualified Ford certified technician to verify the working order of parts and components. Buyers have access to a free report of the vehicle’s history. This report can be viewed in person or online. All makes and models are eligible provided they pass inspection and have a satisfactory vehicle history report.
What Are Owner Responsibilities
For Royal Shield Warranty coverage to apply, the purchaser must operate and maintain the vehicle in a way that complies with suggestions provided in the owner’s manual. Records of maintenance should be kept that indicate the date, type of maintenance, and the vehicle’s mileage at the time of the performed maintenance. Owners should be prepared to provide these records if necessary when they are requesting warranty covered repairs.

When a warranty repair is needed, it is often best to return to the location where the vehicle was purchased. That isn’t always possible,though.
